On Thursday 30th of July 2013 we are off for a summer camp called Journey to Africa
This is the seventh time we are organising the summer camp for 16 children from families which are being helped by Advisory centre Eva. In the period of the 30th of July to the 5th of August 2013 we are going to spend our time going through african adventures at a small farm near Hluboka (Borovany).
In Bílá Voda they know how to turn communion wafers into chips
Bílá Voda (region of Jeseníky) – In the only plant producing communion wafers in the Czech Republic – Unita in Bílá Voda in Jeseníky region – they came with new way of making use of leftovers from production of round wafers used for Holy Communion. Before the leftovers were put into bags and were distributed to parishes but now they came with more efficient and original utilization – special Unichips are made out of them.

Adoptive boy from Africa died, he will be helping others
One out of four premises of the Mary Wards Children Home that is supported by the Diocesan Charity in České Budějovice and that is located near the Zimbabwean city of Kwekwe burned down the last year.
The Intervention Centre in Jindřichův Hradec – Announcement of the winding-up
The Intervention Center, the department in Jindřichův Hradec, will be open for the last time on June 26, 2013 in normal office hours (9:00 – 12:00, 12:30 – 17:00).
Story of Mr. and Mrs. Novák
Mr. and Mrs. Novák (both 60-year-old) came to the Intervention Centre after their son (25) was expelled from their household. Their son was a child that was prayed for; however, he was very problematic from his early childhood. His behaviour has always been strange and it grew worse with time.
Story of Ms. Alice
Thirty-year-old Alice was advised by the Czech Police to come to the Intervention Centre, for she had been brutally attacked by her husband. She barely communicated and only kept staring to the ground. Her husband had been abusing her physically and mentally for 8 years, but she was too afraid to leave him, as he threatened her with murdering her.
Story of Ms. Marie
Ms. Marie (77) asked the Intervention Centre for help. She told the workers in the Centre that her son (53) is using and abusing her. The son has already been for a longer period of time living in his mother’s flat, basically since he got divorced. He was also unemployed and abusing alcohol.
The budget of the Diocesan Charity in České Budějovice is 2.5 million CZK short
They cut down their activities and they are laying off their employees. The Diocesan Charity in České Budějovice as well as the local charities that cooperate together are trying to save money as much as they can, however, the deficit in 2013 budget equals 10 million CZK. “We are communicating with the regional authorities as well as with the representatives of the individual cities in order to raise the money we need,” said the directress of the Diocesan Charity in České Budějovice Mgr. Michaela Čermáková.
