Welcome to our website

Dear visitor, we are honored to welcome you to our new website

More than 190 volunteers were helping during the first term of this year in Diocesan Charity in Cesk

In the course of the year 2012 we were methodically in charge of 169 voluteers who were helping 577 clients and worked for 7786 hours. During the period from January to June this year 194 volunteers were or are still active in our Charity.

The number of volonteers has increased besides other things thanks to volunteers from the drugstore company "DM" and also thanks to one-time volunteers who helped with clearing flood damages. The mostly occupied voluntary programme is the programme called Chance for all. It deals with children from socially handicapped background and also with adults living on the edge of society. 51 volunteers have been helping in this programme since the beginning of 2013 and have supported about 287 clients. The number might seem high but the severe and very long winter caused a significant augmentation of homeless people.

Volunteers of the programme Chance for all worked for 2330 hours. Currently a new project called Streetwork Máj is being prepared. The idea of this project is to calm the situation and to strengthen neighbour relations at housing estate Máj. The programme will be focused on children of the age from 5 to 12. The main goal of this programme is to propose leisure time activities to children and in this way to help to get started the communication among local people. Another voluntary programme called Life palette (work with seniors) is also very polular among volunteers. We have registred 45 volunteers who helped 217 clients and worked 1175 hours in total.

In the voluntary programme called Vincent there are such volunteers who help in the base of Voluntary centre. Their main activities involve e.g. translation of articles into foreign languages or helping with children´s bikes reparation. There are 17 volunteers, who worked about 165 hours, registred in this programme. Project called Bridges of hope which deals with mentally disabled people registred 18 volunteers who attended 25 clients in the institution regulary. The volunteers worked about 216 hours. 7 volunteers who attended regulary patients on the 1st word of follow-up care in Ceske Budejovice hospital were enregistred in the period from January to June 2013. They were spending their time with about 65 patients which made 168 hours in total on the hospital word.

Prison correspondance is a project in which a volunteer exanges lettres (in an anonym way and under a nickname) with a prisoner. In this way the volunteer can encourage the prisoner in working on his character. 19 volunteers helping 22 prisoners from all around the Czech Republic are invovled in this programme. They spent 120 hours with correspondence. As mentioned at the beginning of this text during 6 previous months we have registred 194 volunteers in our Voluntary centre. They worked about 4174 hours with 616 clients. By the means of this article we would like to express our thanks to all volunteers for their great merit in charitable activities.
