Asking for volunteers to help with a big event for children on Saturday, October 5th
We are asking for help with a preparation of the afternoon program on topic Australia for children at the age range of the elementary school during the national meeting of children in České Budějovice. Read the following text for more information, why we need volunteers necessarily, for which children and what happens…
We as Diocesan Charity ČB promised the České Budějovice Bishopric (our establisher) to participate in a part of the program of the national meeting of children (the correct name is 5th national missionary congress of children). It will take place in České Budějovice on Saturday, October 5th 2013. We are already sure, that we are not able to cope with it without You, volunteers. That’s the reason why I’m asking for Your help.
The main topic of the meeting is “Happiness and Hope for Everyone” with a subtitle “How can I help someone in a particular way”. The meeting has four sections this year: spiritual, cultural, learning game and final. We’re involved in the third section – the learning game. What’s going on? The children will be divided to five big groups and they will ¨travel¨ through five continents. The Diocesan Charity ČB organize activities with the theme AUSTRALIA. Our aim is to teach children some interesting facts about this continent and provide them some information about Charity too and about possibilities of a particular help through charity projects.
So and now the important facts:

I will be very grateful to You, who will take part in the preparation and realization of activities about Australia (you can invite your handy friends too). If you know, that you cannot participate in it, we appreciate Your advices and tips for themes of activities about Australia!

I suppose that we should prepare 5 themes for different stations, which will concern Australia somehow. It seems to me, that there could be 15 stations together – each theme would repeat at 3 stations (so as not to have to make up 15 themes, because children manage to pass 1- 2 stations at most).

We will have only 25 minutes for each group of children. That means 5 groups x 25 minutes (that comforts me).

We will divide each of the five groups of children into smaller groups of 10 children at most immediately after their coming.

So the total number of children attending the whole event: it’s real, that each of the ¨bigger groups¨ will always consist of 100-130 children (plus adults accompanying them). Because around 600 children always came onto this meeting in the last years (it will be little more this year, because it should be national meeting, but not so much more – I doubt, that parents with children will come from Praha, Ostrava and so on). Therefore beyond the great and interesting program we need to prepare our event logistically very well.

I suppose that children will communicate with us well, because they are from the Christian families. They should be at the age range of the elementary school. It will bring us another experience, than we have with “our” children from the charity from the families in need.

The “bigger groups” of children will be recognized from each other by different colored scarves, which they will be given by the registration. Each “bigger group” of children will have their own adult leader, who is responsible for them. Our responsibility is only the program about Australia.

On Saturday, October 5th we will start preparing the event at 9:00, the first group should come at 12:00, but more real time is 12:45. The last group will have to leave at 16:40. Then we will clear our activity station and we will go home at 17:30 the latest!

Where? The Bishopric arranged a place for our activity station at Theological faculty. The faculty is in the town center near the main cathedral (the address is Kněžská 8). We can use a parking-lot in the inner yard in case of nice weather or a ground floor of the faculty with a big classroom and a cafeteria in bad weather.

Preparation: I suppose that we will meet twice for the preparation of the event. The first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 24th 2013 at 17:00 in the Charity Volunteer Center (Kanovnická 11, the entrance is by Mlýnská stoka). Please, confirm me your participation by the email until Sunday, September 22nd 2013. Thank You very much. We will discuss themes and activities for our stations about Australia. We will continue to solve details for all stations on our second meeting (we will arrange a date at the first meeting).
