Diocesan Charity in České Budějovice Looks for Volunteers for the Epiphany Collection

The Diocesan Charity in České Budějovice is in need of volunteers for the Epiphany Collection, which will take place as usual in the first days of January 2013. The carollers will carol daily, usually after 4pm.

The way the Epiphany Collection is organized is that a group of children, accompanied with an adult, goes from door to door and ring on the doorbell. If the doors open, they sing traditional Czech carol “My tři králové jdeme k vám” and with the help of the adult, they will ask for a contribution for people in need. Those of you who are interested in carolling can contact Mgr. Věra Michalicová on the e-mail address dobrovolnici@charitacb.cz  or personally at the office on Kanovnická Street 11 in České Budějovice. The phone number is +420 386 322 611.

The Epiphany Collection is the largest fundraising event in the Czech Republic. The proceeds of this collection are used for helping the sick and disabled people, the seniors, mothers and children in need and other people in need, particularly in the regions where the Collection is held. The proceeds in the České Budějovice diocese are used to pay for current social projects which are aimed at seniors, children and the youth, and at homeless mothers with children as well as at mobile hospice care. The money we will collect will be also used as a direct help for people struck by natural disasters, such as floods or gales.

The charm and the aspect which differentiates this collection from others is the way it is held – the carolling in the spirit of the motto of the collection: “Help the people in need”.
